Benevue was founded by its three principals to create innovating solutions for
the paint industry. As evidenced by the resumes below, these three individuals
understand the needs of the paint industry and possess strong background in
color science, instrumentation, computer software, and database technology. Thisteam has diligently worked with the paint industry during the past few years to
create the color reader, software to determine the closest color(s), and the
custom paint mixing system that are presently being offered by Benevue.
S. KICHA GANAPATHY
President and CEO
Dr. Ganapathy has more than thirty five years experience in computer science, including computer vision, computer graphics and human-machine interfaces. For the past twenty years he has led groups that have achieved notable technical innovations and created new businesses. As a research department head at Bell Laboratories (1986), Dr. Ganapathy led a team that created the world's first rotating micro-mechanical structure in silicon that spawned the field of silicon micro-machines. In 1994, he developed the world's first virtual reality 3-D games with non-invasive interfaces. He is an internationally recognized expert in Computer Vision and Computer Graphics. Dr. Ganapathy received his B.Tech. from IIT/Bombay in 1967, his M.Tech. from IIT/Kanpur in 1969, and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 1976.
ROBERT J. SAFRANEK
CTO and Vice President, Product Development
Dr. Safranek has more than twenty five years of research and development experience in digital signal processing, video compression, and various aspects of image and video technologies. He is an internationally recognized expert on video compression based on models of human perception. Dr. Safranek has published widely and has made many contributions to the fields of digital television and digital image processing. Dr. Safranek has extensive experience in building working systems that involve integration of diverse technologies and has a broad technical background covering almost all of Benevue's technologies. Dr. Safranek received his B.S. in E.E. in 1980, his M.S. in E.E. in 1982, and his Ph.D. in E.E. in 1986, all from Purdue University .
DHIRAJ K. SHARMA
Vice President, Database Technologies
Dr. Sharma has more than thirty years of experience in different areas of computer science including databases, networking, and graphics on micro and mini computers. He has extensive expertise in developing innovative applications of computer technologies to provide cost-effective, reliable solutions to business and industrial information management problems. He developed the Fast-Count DBMS for high-speed search and analysis applications on very large databases and established MegaPlex Software in 1993 to commercialize that product. Since 1988, he has also been a consultant in the field of direct marketing with David Shepard Associates. Dr. Sharma received his B.Tech. from IIT/Kanpur in 1971, his M.S. in Electrical Engineering/Information Sciences in 1972, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering/Information Sciences in 1975 both from California Institute of Technology.
